In the crazy world of life, we struggle to make time for ourselves beyond the daily grind. But, just imagine if you did manage to swing a few hours for yourself… what would you do?

I don’t have a hobby

Previously, we stuck our necks on the line to define what a hobby is, which we hope you agreed with. Armed with that definition, you’re now itching to turn off Netflix, get off the sofa (stay with me) and get cracking on pursuing that hobby… But, I don’t have a hobby is the response I hear you cry! Plus, there’s only 7 episodes of Stranger Things left to watch.

All I can say is, that you can watch that later. Experiences and knowledge is waiting, isn’t that right, Einstein?

Where to start to find your hobby?

Firstly, get a pen and paper or open your favourite word processor and start writing a list of all the things you’re interested in or passionate about:

  • Following designers and makers on Instagram
  • Attending design fairs
  • Reading craft-related publications

See if anything from the list solely or several combined presents a hobby idea i.e. Pottery.

Other ways to develop your hobby:

  • Keep a notepad next to your bed — often ideas pop into your head late at night
  • What did you do as a child? Could you rediscover a childhood hobby?
  • Write a journal — Every day write a collection of your thoughts and group them into what you did like doing and what you didn’t.

How to make your hobby a reality?

A potential hobby has been discovered but don’t just stop there. Go make it happen. Don’t neglect today on the promise of multiple tomorrows.

Take a class, hire a teacher or go buy those tools. Whatever you need to make it happen, go and do it, you won’t regret it.

Okay, so there might be a few obstacles so I guess…
